It has been reported by Hadhrat Anas (Radhiyal-laho anho) that the Holy Prophet (Sallallaho alaihe wa-sallam) said: "So long as a person says "La ilaaha iilallaah" (no one is worthy of worship but Allah), he receives spiritual benefits, and is saved from miseries and calamities, unless he neglects its rights." His Companions said: "0 Messenger of Allah (Sallaho alaihe wasallam)! how are its rights neglected?" He answered: "When sins are committed openly, and the person who recites the kalimah does not prevent the sinners from wrongdoings." (Targheeb)

Purpose of Six qualities, which the Sahabah RadiAllahu Anhum had and making effort to gain these qualities help a person gradually follow complete Islam, are listed below:
Purpose of "La Ilaha Illallah" - Allah is the only Creator & everything else are His creation. Creation cannot do anything without the permission & help of Allah. Allah can do anything & everything without help of creation.
Purpose of "Muhammadur Rasulullah" - Success in this world (before death) & Akhirat (life after death) is ONLY in following the Orders of Allah according to the way shown by Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam.
Purpose of Namaz/Salat/Prayer - transfer the complete obedience (of Allah) in Namaz/Salat to every action of our lives.
Purpose of Ilm/knowledge - it is Fardh (mandatory) for everyone to learn enough knowledge to be able to recognize Halal (Permissible or Order of Allah) & Haram (Prohibited by Allah).
Purpose of Zikir - to bring the awareness of ever presence (constant/continuous presence) of Allah in our heart.
Purpose of Ikram-e-Muslimin - sacrifice our own needs to fulfill the needs of other Muslims.
Purpose of Ikhlas - everything we do, we do ONLY for the pleasure of Allah. Even if a person reminds us of doing a good action & we do it, we can still do it for Allah ONLY. We should not care what people think & perform good action, even if someone reminds of that good action or does not like that action, this is Ikhlas.
Purpose of Dawat-e-Ilallah/invitation to the Greatness of Allah - since Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam was the last prophet & no more prophet to come after him, Allah & Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam gave us the duty of calling everyone (Muslims & nonmuslims) towards the Greatness of Allah.
